This group is open to anyone who enjoys eating and fellowship. You need to sign up each month, so the restaurant can have an accurate count. The 2010 Canoe Trip is scheduled for July 16th, 17th and 18th. Mark your calendar now to participate in this coming trip.
On the 2009 trip we saw white pelicans, five bald eagles, osprey and lots of deer. The Brave Souls' Adventurers have canoed and enjoyed each others fellowship together for 13 years now at Harvey Park Christian Church. These canoe trips are a favorite way for families, friends, new acquaintances to meet and fellowship together. We have had people from 5 to 82 years old join us. The camp food is always a favorite: shrimp & crab leg boil, jambalaya & red beans, beef & noodles, b-b-que ribs, spaghetti & meatballs, Dutch oven desserts, homemade ice cream made by rolling a can on the river bank and pies.
Our trips have taken us down the North Platte in Wyoming (with the nightly trip to the Hot Springs in Saratoga Springs, the eagles, brown pelicans, ducks and other water fowl galore) and the Niobrara River (where the river is wide and warm, water gun fights, splashing each other, kids of all ages floating the river with their life jackets on and the beauty of the waterfalls to stand under) in Western Nebraska. Communion is a special time when shared together along the river bank, some of the highlights have been:the deer watching us from the bushes across the river and the eagle that flew overhead and low over the river to join in our celebration.
The canoe trip is open to all members and their friends, and it is the perfect opportunity to meet new people in a nontraditional activity. Please keep in mind that we actually do the paddling (sometimes up to 5 or 6 hours a day, rain or shine), sleep in tents & sleeping bags (on some trips there are motels or rooms for campers close by). You will prepare your own meals and bring your own tent or arrange lodging in Saratoga.
If you are interested in joining this special time of fellowship or for more information, please call the church office 303-789-3142.
