Community Ministry

"Helping People Help Themselves"
Community Ministry is a service organization that is supported by over 25 churches in the Southwest Denver area. The ministry serves those in need who live within the boundaries of 6th ave. on the north, Broadway on the east, and the Denver City and County lines on the south and west.

COMMUNITY MINISTRY FUNDRAISER

You can help support Community Ministry by EATING PIZZA! The first Tuesday of each month CiCi's Pizza will donate a portion of the sales to Community Ministry. CiCi's Pizza is located in the Bear Valley Shopping Center. Carry out counts too!! Don't forget to put your receipt in the bucket! Thanks for all your support!

Community Ministry greatly appreciates the donation of any non-perishable food item. The item for the month is just one item they need. If you would like to contribute food items to Community Ministry, please bring them to the church and put them in the basket in the foyer marked for Community Ministry. Thank you for your support!

Services Provided

Grocery assistance, bus tokens, gas vouchers
Clothing, baby supplies, toys, games, books, and hygiene items
Help connecting those in need to other community outreach services
Thanksgiving and Christmas holiday food baskets for families and senior citizens
Sharing Tree Christmas gifts for children
Grant funding for community outreach programs

There are many ways to be involved with community ministry. Here are a few options:

Pick up donations for the food bank, sort and stock items, donate time to Food Bank of the Rockies or Metro CareRing in exchange for food and discounts
Donate clothing, baby items, toys, books, etc for the food bank.
Help staff the food bank and clothing bank during distribution times
Sort and clip coupons, collect coupons, or donate coupon money when shopping at Bear Valley King Soopers, or collect Cub Food grocery receipts
Assist duing the holiday season with outreach projects
Assist with annual community ministry WALK and other fund raisers
Donate newspapers, aluminum cans, and inkjet cartridges for recycling program

If you would like to participate in some way, contact the church office. We can help you plug in to the part of this ministry in which you would like to help.

Navajo Work Trip

The dates for the 2010 Navajo trip is September 23 - 25. The golf tournament which helps to raise funds for the trip is August 21 in Loveland.

The projects in Hogback include painting houses, building handicap ramps, installing bathrooms and new roofs, sewing curtains and helping in the kitchen to feed the work crew, just to name a few. There are projects to fit any level of ability.

Over the past years volunteers have represented churches from Wyoming, Colorado, Oklahoma, Kansas and New Mexico. Retired people, families and youth groups have worked together each year creating a work force of sixty-five people.

Thank you for your prayers and various ways of supporting this ministry! We are using the work trip as an avenue through which we express gratitude to God.

Phillips Theological Seminary

HPCC supports Phillips Theological Seminary through contributions each month. Phillips trains people called to the ministry to become ordained ministers.

Harvey Park Christian Church is participating in "The Bridges of Faith" matching endowment fund at Phillips. We have started an endowment scholarship fund in John Shaw's name. We have over $25,000 in the scholarship fund. If you would like to help with this fund, please send your contributions to Harvey Park Christian Church and designate it for the John Shaw Scholarship Endowment Fund.

Colorado Christian Home Tennyson Center

Colorado Christian Home is a place of safety, love, caring and shelter for children who are in need of guidance and stability. We support Colorado Christian financially each month as well as attending the annual fundraising dinner.
